Stick on VS clip on weights

29 Aug 2017

Disadvantage:

Stick on weights, the position of the weight laterally affects the balance. The machine may be expecting the weight to be placed closer to the edge than is feasible. The only problem this presents for us is that sometimes you may have to spin the wheel a few times and reposition the stick on weights to get proper balance.

Clip-on weights do a better job of balancing the wheel, no question. But a risk with aluminum wheels is that clip-on weights on the our side rim will scratch the protective coating and leave permanent marks or corrosion pitting so that the next time the wheel is balanced and the weights are moved there will be visible marks left on the rim.

Benefits:

Clip on wheel weight

1,less weight is required to balance a given wheel since they have more effect our on the ends of the moment arms

2,They are easier to attach. They pop right on&off with a special tool. Installing tape weights requires:peeling the old ones off, cleaning the glue and dirt off the area.applying the new ones
3,If your brake calipers barely fit inside your wheels, clip on weights won’t interfere

Adhesive weight

1,Look better,not being easily visible
2,They stay on better (in my opinion) since the faster you go, the more firmly they are pressed against the rim
3,They don’t damage the rim when added/removed .
