EPDM rubber is a copolymer of ethylene, propylene and a small amount of non-conjugated diene, which is a kind of ethylene propylene rubber.
Its main chain is composed of chemically stable saturated hydrocarbons. It only contains unsaturated double bonds in the side chain. Therefore, it has excellent resistance to aging, such as ozone, heat and weather resistance. It can be widely used in automotive parts and building waterproof materials. Wire and cable sheath, heat-resistant hose, tape, automotive seals, etc.
Compared with other commonly used general rubber or special rubber, the main performance advantages of EPDM rubber are as follows:
(1) High cost performance, the raw rubber density is only 0.86~0.90g/cm3, which is the common rubber with the lightest density of raw rubber; and it can be filled in a large amount to reduce the cost of rubber compound.
(2) Excellent aging resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance, sunlight resistance, heat resistance, water resistance, water vapor resistance, UV resistance, radiation resistance and other aging properties, and other unsaturated diene rubber such as NR, SBR, When BR, NBR, and CR are used together, EPDM can function as a polymeric antioxidant or an antioxidant.
(3) Excellent chemical resistance, acid, alkali, detergent, animal and vegetable oil, alcohol, ketone, etc.; outstanding water resistance, superheat resistance, water vapor resistance; resistance to polar oil.
(4) Excellent insulation performance, volume resistivity 1016Q·cm, breakdown voltage 30-40 MV/m, dielectric constant (1 kHz, 20 ° C) 2.27.
(5) Wide temperature range, minimum use temperature -40 ~ -60 ° C, can be used at 130 ° C for a long time.
